Terms of Service

The terms for accessing and using the Chieftain pilot operated by Alteridad.

Agreement and eligibility

By creating an account or using Chieftain, you agree to these terms. You must be legally able to enter this agreement and, if acting for an organization, authorized to bind it. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Pilot service and accounts

Chieftain is a developing organizational-memory and research service. Features, limits, and availability can change during the pilot. Keep account credentials secure, provide accurate information, and promptly report unauthorized access.

Your responsibilities

  • Use Chieftain lawfully and only for organizations and data you are authorized to manage.
  • Give workers and other participants an appropriate notice before inviting them, respect voluntary participation and unsubscribe choices, and do not retaliate for participation or non-participation.
  • Do not solicit special-category, highly sensitive, unlawful, infringing, deceptive, abusive, or malicious content.
  • Do not probe security, evade limits, interfere with the service, scrape it, or use outputs to build a competing dataset or model except where mandatory law permits.

AI and organizational analysis

Chieftain uses automated systems and third-party AI providers. Outputs can be incomplete, probabilistic, or wrong and require human review. You must not use them as the sole basis for employment decisions or decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects.

Content, privacy, and confidentiality

You retain rights in content you provide and grant Alteridad the limited rights needed to host, process, analyze, and return it through Chieftain. You are responsible for having a lawful basis and giving required notices for personal data you submit. Our Privacy Policy describes our processing and service providers.

We treat non-public customer content as confidential and use it only to provide, protect, and improve the service, comply with law, and as otherwise instructed or agreed.

Fees and third-party services

Paid plans, if selected, are billed under the price and cycle shown at purchase; taxes may apply. Third-party services such as hosting, email, payments, research, and AI remain subject to their availability and applicable terms. We may change future pricing with advance notice and will not retroactively change an already-paid period.

Ownership

Alteridad and its licensors own Chieftain, including its software, design, branding, and documentation. These terms give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service during the agreement; they do not transfer ownership.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using the service at any time and may request account closure. We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, security risk, legal requirement, non-payment, or discontinuation, using reasonable notice where circumstances allow. Sections that by nature should survive will survive termination.

Disclaimers and liability

To the extent permitted by law, the pilot is provided as available without implied warranties. Alteridad is not liable for indirect, consequential, special, or lost-profit damages. Any aggregate liability is limited to fees paid for the service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. These limits do not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including fraud or deliberate misconduct.

Changes, law, and contact

We may update these terms and will give proportionate notice of material changes. Mandatory consumer, employment, and data-protection law continues to apply. Until Alteridad publishes its complete registered legal details and chosen jurisdiction, these terms do not displace the mandatory courts or laws available to you.
